In the face of contemporary technological change, how might the methods of ethics of technology be modified or improved? As part of the inter-university research consortium, “Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies” (ESDiT), Philosophy & Ethics at TU/e is hiring a three-year post-doc to investigate what methodological innovations or modifications the ethics of technology requires in response to socially disruptive technologies.

Vacancy Postdoctoral Researcher in Ethical Assessment of Technology-Driven Social Disruption, University of Twente
The University of Twente is hiring a 3-year full-time postdoc within the ESDIT project. Application deadline: April 27, 2026.
This postdoctoral project develops new methods for the ethical assessment of socially disruptive technologies. It is part of the ESDiT programme on the ethics of SDTs (see below), specifically a research line in ESDiT on methodological innovation, and involves close collaboration with another postdoc working on complementary approaches, as well as other scholars in the programme.
Technology Ethics in Turbulent Times: Call for Papers
What do philosophy and ethics of technology mean in turbulent times? This is the question that we will explore in the next edition of our bi-annual conference, which will take place from 4-6 November 2026. We invite fellow scholars to submit a panel or session proposal, and/or register for participation.

Women’s health and commercial health technologies – ESDIT researcher Naomi Jacobs in the Washington Post
‘Femtech’ is a term for technologies that address female health needs, for example technologies that enable women to digitally track their period, manage their fertility, or support their pregnancy. Although femtech has the potential to benefit women, ESDIT researcher Naomi Jacobs has argued, there are various ethical concerns to be raised with current femtech apps. An article in today’s Washington Post addresses these issues as well, and quotes Jacobs.
